Henley Royal Rigatta!

Henley Royal Rigatta!

So Andy decided I needed some educating in English Pastimes, one of which would be having a picnic and drinking Pimms (a fruity drink that is VERY popular in the UK during the summer months) in the sun during the summer. So where else is prime to do this? Well at the Royal Regatta of course! The Royal Regatta is a world famous rowing race started in 1839 that is a 5 day long affair that rowers from all over the world travel to participate. Each day of the races, more rowers are knocked off the bracket until only a few rowing teams are left for the final day. It is a very fancy event with everybody dressing up and wearing big hats! We brought a little picnic and settled down to watch the fun. I have never been to a rowing race

before so it was quite exciting. We sat near the finish line so we were able to see which teams were head to head and which teams were winning my a longshot. Lots of yelling and cheering but the best part was definitely the weather πŸ™‚ SUN SUN SUN SUN SUN! We through enjoyed every drop of it. Neither of us got burnt but we definately were able to top up our tan. I am so glad the British summer has finally showed it’s face around here. Loved the picnic, loved watching the races, loved the sun. Hanging out with Andy for an entire day just chilling out talking was wonderful icing on the cake. Because there is a lot of down time it leaves for lots of chatting time which I throughly enjoyed.

Pimms, fruit and sunshine, feeling English yet?

After our day of watching the rowing I felt like I had participated in a truly English summer tradition. Another box ticked πŸ˜‰
